Girls on the Run of Maricopa County

We need YOU!

Each year we rely on hundreds of volunteers to breathe life into our programs from start to finish.  Whether it is by a long-term commitment or one day of service, our volunteers make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of local girls!

Following are a variety of ways that you can become more involved with Girls on the Run®:

Coach: Two coaches are assigned to each group of up to 15 girls.  Coaches meet with the girls oftentimes after school, two days a week for 90 minutes, for a 12-week season.  Please see the Head Coach and Assistant Coach job descriptions for more information about our most rewarding positions! If after reading these forms you are interested in coaching, please submit a new coach or returning coach application.  Contact our Program Coordinator, Julie Rose, at julie@gotrmc.org with questions.

Team Adelaide: Team Adelaide is a group of trained volunteers who conduct program site visits during the season as their schedule allows. During each visit, the Team Adelaide volunteers complete a short, informal site evaluation checklist. The site visits help GOTRMC ensure uniformity and quality of program delivery and allow us to offer feedback and support to coaches and teams. This is a great volunteer opportunity for those who cannot commit enough time to coach but who want to be a part of GOTRMC and see the program in action. Please submit an application if you are interested in this opportunity.  Contact our Program Coordinator, Julie Rose, at julie@gotrmc.org with questions.

Serve as a Site Liaison: Site liaisons work with the Program Coordinator to register, set up and coordinate Girls on the Run® or Girls on Track® at their school/site. Please see Bring the Program to Your School for more information.

Register your Daughter: We welcome the opportunity to involve more girls in the program! Please check out our Locations page for more information.

Sign up to be a Running Buddy: This is a great opportunity for women who do not have the time to coach, but want to spend time with the girls.  Each Running Buddy is paired with a Girls on the Run® participant and runs with her at the end of season 5k.  For more information please click here.

Become a SoleMate: SoleMates is the adult charity running leg of Girls on the Run®. It is a team of aspiring athletes who each pursue individual goals, such as completing a marathon, triathlon or other athletic event to inspire, celebrate, and be an example of self respect and healthy living. You can walk, run or bike in any event of your choice and raise much needed funding for Girls on the Run of Maricopa County. Join SoleMates - Details Here.

Join the Girls on the Run Pace Team: Help keep us running. Share your time and talents by joining this GOTRMC committee.  The committee typically meet about once a month, and members make yearly commitments. The group supports planning and implementation of events and programs such as the New Balance Girls on the Run 5K, Sole to Soul Event, SoleMates, Marketing, Outreach and Operations efforts. If you are interested in joining the Girls on the Run Pace Team, please complete and submit a Committee Interest Form.

Join the Board of Directors: From time to time we look to fill vacant positions on our Board of Directors.  Selection is competetive and based on a number of factors. Currently we are specifically seeking active community members with non-profit financial experience, PR and marketing experience or organizational experience in local elementary or middle schools or at the disctrict level.  If you fit one of these categories or if you feel like you could make a meaningful impact in another way, please complete a Board Member Interest Form and return to Meagan Kukowski at meagan@gotrmc.org.

Various One-Time Volunteer Opportunities: We frequently gather groups of volunteers to work aid stations or help at local races or events.  These opportunities are publicized as details become available via our e-newsletter, website calendar and via our Facebook page.

Be an Advocate: Girls on the Run wants to become a household name, and we would like to make the program available at every school for EVERY girl who is interested in participating.  If you feel the same way, please spread the word to family, friends, co-workers, running partners, etc.  Sign up as a fan of Girls on the Run of Maricopa County on Facebook and invite others to do the same.  Word of mouth can go a long way and help us educate and prepare local girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
