Bring Girls on the Run® to your School
If your school is already a participating site, please contact
Program Coordinator, Julie Rose, at julie@gotrmc.org for
registration information. If your school or community organization
does not currently offer Girls on the Run® or Girls on Track®, we
would welcome the opportunity to bring the program to you and your
girls! Please review the New Site Information and contact
Julie
Rose for information on starting a program at your
school.
In order to host a GOTR Program at your site, you must be prepared
to:
- Review position descriptions: Site Liaison, Head Coach and Assistant
Coach.
- Provide a safe, dedicated space for running two days per week
for 1 1/2 hours. THIS IS ESSENTIAL. The space does not need to be a
track. A field works just as well as long as you are able to
measure off certain running distances.
- Determine a plan for identifying potential participants.
- Distribute registration forms to all eligible girls. Teams
consist of 8-15 girls. Some sites may be approved to host multiple
teams.
- Provide coaching candidates for your site if possible. Each
coach will be required to attend a mandatory Girls on the Run®
training at the beginning of each season and agree to be background
checked and fingerprinted (if necessary) and sign a non-compete
form.
- If you do not have anyone to coach, don't worry! The Council
Director will assist you in identifying coaches if necessary.
- Verify support and obtain signature approval from the school
principal.
- Secure storage area for snack, curriculum, supplies, first aid
kit, etc.
If you are comfortable committing to the above items and have
reviewed and each position description, please submit a new site application. Here is an
application for returning
sites.
Following receipt of your application, the Program Coordinator,
Julie Rose will contact you to discuss your submission and review
next steps.
