Support Girls on the Run
By participating in the Girls on the Run 5k you will help empower girls! 100% of the race proceeds go directly to Girls on the Run serving Maricopa and Pinal Counties whose mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Your support will help change the lives of local girls – empowering them with the tools and confidence they need to grow up to be strong, healthy, confident women who positively impact our community.

Become a *Sparkle Runner*!
If you would like to run with the girls, this is for you! Be a moving course marshal and provide gentle encouragement and support to all our girls along the run. A Sparkle Runner is an adult female who runs the 5k and cheers on all of our girls as they head towards the finish line! Some Sparkle Runners may be paired with an individual girl to run the whole race with, while others will be asked to cheer on all the girls along the course and others asked to help to serve as sweep. You may come across a girl who got separated from her Running Buddy, is too fast for her Running Buddy, or just needs some extra encouragement! To become a Sparkle Runner, please register for our upcoming end of season 5k and select "Sparkle Runner" as your event category.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Sparkle Runners will be asked to complete a background check in order to serve in this role.

1-Mile
We are again offering a 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk which is a great way for friends and family to also get involved in the event and get a chance to cross that finish line. Registration is just $15 and includes an event shirt, finisher ribbon and other event giveaways.

Teams
Consider getting together with friends, family, colleagues, running partners etc. to form a team! If you are interested in forming a team, your team captain must click on the Create a Team button when registering. Once the team is created it will show in a drop down box at the top of all registration forms for other team members to select. If you are participating with a team be sure to select your team name during the registration process. We will offer fun prizes for participating teams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where should I park?

There are numerous parking options surrounding the event and course. That being said, we recommend that you plan to allow yourself plenty of time to park and get to the event staging area. You may also want to check for any road closures on your route in advance. There are several large State of Arizona parking garages and lots around the race course that are open for visitor parking. There are also public and private lots around the race that are open to race parking as well as street parking. Please click here for parking suggestions.

Are strollers allowed?

Yes! Baby strollers are welcome in both the 5K and 1-mile races. But, for safety reasons and to ease congestion at the start, runners with strollers or wheelchairs are asked to please line up at the back of the field.

We are looking for groups to serve as cheer stations along the course. Gather 5 or more people from your family, company, community organization, group of friends, sports/cheer team, and help to provide the one-of-a-kind positive energy, excitement and celebration that makes the Girls on the Run 5k so special. Some suggestions: create a theme for the station, dress up, play music, use noisemakers, make signs etc. Our goal is to hopefully fill the course with positive energy and encouragement for all participants and for them – and you all! - to be inspired and have a lot of fun in the process. Once you have confirmed participants for your group, the zone captain should register via the online volunteer registration to reserve your group’s spot on the course.
