July Girl Hero

Meet Erin, our July Girl Hero. As a GOTR mom, coach, board member, fundraiser, workplace advocate, and passionate volunteer, Erin has dedicated herself to helping girls build confidence, discover their strengths, and realize their limitless potential.

For the past 22 years, Erin has worked at Nationwide, where a strong culture of community involvement has fueled her passion for giving back. Through mentoring, volunteer leadership, financial literacy programs, and community service, she's spent her career investing in others—a commitment that naturally extends to Girls on the Run.

That same passion for helping others doesn't end when the workday does. At home, Erin and her husband, David, are raising two daughters, Ellie and Bryn, alongside their rescue dogs, Cruz and Luna. As both a coach and a mom, Girls on the Run has become part of their family's everyday life.

"One of my favorite lessons is adding the word 'yet' when I feel like I can't do something," Erin shares. "The 'I feel' statement also gets used often in our house." Those simple but powerful lessons have reinforced the importance of raising girls who know their worth, trust their voice, and understand that confidence is built over time.

After years of serving Girls on the Run in multiple volunteer roles, joining the Board of Directors felt like a natural next step. Erin has already made a tremendous impact through fundraising and community advocacy, helping ensure financial barriers never stand in the way of a girl participating in the program.

When asked why investing in girls matters so deeply to her, her answer couldn't be more powerful:

"Because I am one."

She believes that when girls are given the tools to build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging, the impact extends far beyond the program—to their families, schools, friendships, and communities.

For anyone considering getting involved with Girls on the Run, Erin has just two words of advice: say yes.

"You do not have to have everything figured out to make a difference," she says. "You may find that you get just as much back as you give."

Thank you, Erin, for the many ways you support girls, strengthen our community, and inspire others to make a difference.
