November Girl Hero
Meet Shannon, our November Girl Hero.
For more than a decade, Shannon has been a dedicated supporter of Girls on the Run, blending her passion for running with her commitment to giving back. In 2010, when she launched the XTERRA Trail Run Series in Arizona, she sought a charity partner whose mission aligned with her own—and found that in Girls on the Run.
“I was immediately drawn to its powerful message—empowering girls through physical activity and self-discovery, regardless of their athletic ability,” Shannon shared. Over the years, she’s volunteered as both a running buddy and 5K event volunteer, helping girls discover the same joy and confidence she finds on the trail.
Through the XTERRA Trail Run Series, Shannon proudly named Girls on the Run as the official charity partner—raising more than $35,000 to help local girls access programming and celebrate their limitless potential.
One of her favorite memories was serving as a running buddy for a young runner whose enthusiasm and speed kept her on her toes. “It was humbling and inspiring to witness that kind of pure joy,” she said.
Whether organizing community races, volunteering at events, or mentoring others, Shannon has always believed in the power of movement to bring people together and build confidence. As she transitions from race directing back into her career in law, she continues to lead with purpose and heart—supporting the Girls on the Run mission to help every girl build confidence, strength, and resilience.
